BYS Yoga Studies Program Module 1

This program is for the avid yoga student looking to learn and those considering a career as a yoga teacher. Because many modern yogis wish to study yoga without any desire to teach, we have split the program into two modules.

Module one, spread over eight weekends, will encompass a thorough study into the history, philosophy and anatomy of yoga. Module two, spread over five weekends, will focus primarily on cultivating the ability to teach yoga with confidence, intelligent and ease. Those hoping to teach must complete both modules. Those simply interested in understanding the science of yoga may enroll in module one and those who have completed a 200-hr training elsewhere or have Ame’s permission may enroll is just module 2. The full program is over 280 hours and meets/exceeds all requirements of Yoga Alliance.

Applicants must have a consistent and dedicated yoga practice. The curriculum is designed to enrich one’s understanding of yoga through classroom study (lecture & practice), reading & writing assignments and time spent with resourceful and gifted teachers. If accepted, students should be prepared to steep themselves in yoga for the duration of the program, both within the scheduled hours and outside of the classroom.

To receive a certificate of completion, students must showcase their understanding of the material covered by completing all hours and outside assignments as well as passing a final exam. In addition to the many hours you will spend with Ame & Brenna, this program also offers an opportunity to study with many of Boston and New York’s finest teachers in a small setting. There will be ample practice time and you can expect to learn A LOT. In addition, this program is a community. You will be immersed in yoga alongside other likeminded individuals.

Yoga and Surf Adventure with Brenna Matthews & Ame Wren in Costa Rica

April 16th~23rd, 2016
www.ojodelmar.com

This retreat is for the adventurous yogi. Ojo del Mar sits on the pristine and untouched shores of the Osa Peninsula. Off the grid and surrounded by the jungle, Ojo is the perfect place to retreat from the stresses of city living and get back to the earth. Wake to the smell of Costa Rican coffee and Nico’s unbelievable cooking. After morning practice you can spend your day surfing, paddle-boarding, horse-back riding, hiking or relaxing on the beach. Rinse in your outdoor shower while listening to the symphony of birds and cicadas. Fall asleep under clear skies to the sounds of howler monkeys and waves breaking. You will never be closer to nature than this. Don’t miss this opportunity to practice twice a day, live a simple life for a week and reconnect to the land and yourself.

To get there book a flight to San Jose (arrive anytime on the 16th and leave in the afternoon on the 23rd) then book a jumper flight via Sansa or Nature Air to Puerto Jimenez. From there a cab will bring you to Ojo.

Slow Down and Receive: Yin + Restorative Workshop

Hosted At: Orleans Yoga + Pilates

Open Levels - 2 hrs

The ancient Chinese philosophy of Yin and Yang describes how opposite forces are actually complimentary and interdependent in the natural world. When Yin and Yang are out of balance, too much of one can weaken or consume the other.
Much of our modern living is overly scheduled and busy, with little emphasis on quiet time and introspection.
During this 2 hour workshop, you will spend time doing a mix of yin, restorative, slow flow vinyasa, and meditation to create balance within. The complementary nature of these styles of yoga will work to create a deep sense of warmth, openness, and receptivity. All levels are welcome and encouraged to attend

Cost:
$35 in advance
$40 at the door
